I was born in Wayne, New Jersey, but I grew up on 14 acres in Kansas City, Missouri, reading books, riding horses and planting Christmas trees.
Leading a successful business for nearly two decades and cultivating an environment in which people and good ideas flourish.
Demonstrating to battle-weary clients that jurors with negative predispositions are capable of making fair decisions, especially when you don’t play to their stereotypes.
I was finishing up an independent study on communication and the law when I learned about a program designed to train jury consultants. I left southern California and headed to the Midwest, where I attended the University of Kansas. I dove in and never looked back. I earned a PhD in Legal Communication. I studied communication strategies and the psychology of juror decision-making. I learned how to leverage different research tools when preparing for litigation.
Two jurors will quickly size each other up incorrectly and argue the exact same point without realizing it. Their snap judgments make them oblivious to the common ground between them.
Jurors need something to stand for in deliberations. A persuasive case theory is one that replaces, not rebuts, the other side’s argument.
